St Mary Mazzarrello Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai was established in the year 1926 by the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, an International Educational Society. It is affiliated to Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE). It is owned and managed by the Salesian Sisters from the year of establishment. At present the establishment is duly registered under the “Mazzarello Welfare Society Jowai”.
The school is open to all without distinction of caste and creed. The Motto of the School is “Virtue and Knowledge”. It is located at the heart of Jowai town, 1 km away from the Deputy Commissioner Office, Jowai. It is situated on top of a beautiful hill side. The constant effort of the well trained staff is to develop the individual personality of each pupil and bring out those qualities which are best and noblest in them. Special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school.
It has an educational mission with special focus on the young girls especially those with fewer opportunities. It does all that is possible to form them into good and honest citizens worthy of God and the country. Its endeavour is to form the students into good and honest citizens capable of reaching out the less fortunate brothers and sisters and contributing to building up of a society based on peace, justice and fraternity
St. Mary Mazzarello Girls’ Higher Secondary School Jowai has building with a proper plan. It is not a simple structure but a concrete cemented building consisting of many classroom and toilets for each department such as staff, students etc. This building has been divided into different sections such as Primary English Section, Primary L.P Khasi Section, Upper Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Section.
